Affinity programs are often a nice source of revenue for nonprofits. Many grocery stores and other retailers will donate a portion of a customer’s purchase to the nonprofit of their choice and, if nonprofits can get enough supporters to sign up for the program, funds will trickle in on a regular basis. The exciting news now is that Amazon has jumped on board! They’re donating .5% of purchases for participating shoppers to a nonprofit selected by that shopper. Shoppers have to sign up at www.smile.amazon.com, then shop at that site instead of the regular Amazon site. The “smile” website should be exactly the same as the regular Amazon website, but the donation will only be made if shoppers use the “smile” website to shop. This is a great opportunity considering how many people use Amazon for holiday shopping and millions of other purchases throughout the year. Promote your nonprofit now and see the benefits during the holiday season!
