Change in Federal Procurement Rules

The threshold for micro-purchases under the federal procurement rules has increased from $3,000 to $3,500.  This means that purchases of less than $3,500 don’t require a vendor bidding process, even when federal funds are used for the purchase.  Be sure to review and update your written Purchasing/Procurement Policy before implementing the new threshold since your organization is required to follow its internal policy when it is stricter than federal policies. Some state and local government funding may also have stricter rules that must be followed if they fund a portion of the purchase.
