May 15th is the 990 filing deadline for calendar-year nonprofits. Feel free to file an extension if you need more time! There’s no extension for the 990-N (e-postcard), but also no late fees for now. File your 990-N here.
First year organizations, beware! You must file a tax return for your first year even if it wasn’t a full fiscal year. For example, your organization starts on October 1, 2013 and has a 12/31 year-end. You must file a 990 (or 990-N if eligible) by May 15,2014 of the following year for the 3 months your organization existed in 2013. Let us know if you have any questions about what or when to file.
