The IRS has declared the Ebola outbreak a qualified disaster for federal tax purposes and offered guidance for companies with a leave-based donation program so that employees can donate their vacation, sick time or PTO.  Their employer would then be obligated to make cash payments to charitable organizations providing relief to victims of the Ebola outbreak in affected countries.  The employer gets the tax deduction, but employees will not recognize income for the forgone leave hours.  More info here.
