President Obama is proposing changes to the overtime wage law. Currently, any salaried worker earning less than $23,660 must receive time-and-a-half overtime pay when working more than 40 hours per week. The proposed changes would increase that earnings threshold to $50,440, causing millions more workers to be eligible for overtime pay. The new legislation would be effective in 2016.
